Places you can Visit from Monday Posted On 12 June 2020

As lockdown measures ease on Monday, we take a look at what venues will be reopening, with a little view into what kind of experience to expect in this lockdown era.

Change is coming on June 15th, with all non-essential shops allowed to re-open. But in the past few days, the government has also announced the re-opening of further entertainment venues. Here, we give examples of three places you can visit from Monday and how they might look as a result of social distancing.

Zoos and Safari Parks – A major issue over lockdown has been the question of how to satisfy the little ones of your household. But this looks like it’s changing, with the re-opening of safaris and zoos on Monday. This means that the whole family can, once again, be face to face with some of nature’s most wondrous creatures, as well as enjoying a good old-fashioned ‘day out’.

Retail – This could be a real game-changer. For weeks, we have had to satisfy our needs by accessing shops online. But as of Monday, retail is back, and if predictions are correct, we could be seeing some huge sales, with many retailers unable to shift their stock whilst in lockdown. So if you’re in the market for a bargain, heading out to the shops could be a fruitful visit.

Outdoor Cinemas – During the lockdown, streaming services have been one of our saviours. But as of Monday, you can now go to a cinema drive-in to watch some new releases as well as classics throughout time. Organisations like Luna Cinema and Sunset Cinema have announced that they will be hosting drive-in nights at several locations around the UK, so why not grab the popcorn, get in the car, and enjoy a traditional date-night, or even take the whole family?

These changes can only be made with strict social distancing measures in place. This means that non-essential shops will have to follow the measures which supermarkets took weeks ago, with limited numbers of people allowed in at any one time, and ensuring that two-metre gaps are observed. With regards to safari parks and zoos, only the outdoor spaces will be open. For example, the reptile houses sadly won’t be available to visit for the foreseeable future. And for outdoor cinemas, customers will not be allowed outside their cars, with cars also observing a two-metre gap, and snacks to be delivered to your car.

But despite these alterations to these activities, it will be great to have these vital parts of our lives back!
